As a big Diptyque fan girl from the states, I simply had to visit the original boutique!
Loved the atmosphere here, especially with all the holiday decor. I came in the morning on Boxing Day so it was also quiet and calm for the most part.
I had placed one limited edition item on reservation for click-and-collect, which was an easy and smooth process. Additionally, the sales associate was very helpful with helping me pick out candles as gifts and wrapped everything up beautifully. He was very attentive but also never made me feel pressured to buy more than I wanted to. I almost forgot to ask for the VAT refund forms but he offered them anyway, which also speaks to how proactive the staff here are. He was also quite generous with the samples, and another SA offered me a free candle as a belated birthday gift, which made me feel very appreciated!
Will definitely come back here next time I return to Paris.
As a Diptyque client in the USA for the last 3 years, I made the pilgrimage to the historic, original shop! I was surprised by how small the interior was. It did feel homey (wood paneling) and cosy…easy to imagine the founders building their design & decor business here. In fact the shop made me think of the old shop on San Francisco’s Maiden Lane as well as the Union Square shop…a feeling like going home.
Curious about the interior? Wall-to-wall the shop was decorated with the emblems of various candle scents, counters and shelves covered with displayed testers or decorative items. It was totally immersive!
The single saleswoman was helping an American customer so I had the freedom to peruse the products at my leisure. Later on a man came down the stairs to assist a little before a young lady was assigned to help me.
Honestly, I felt let down in 2 areas: (1) I didn’t see a few of the holiday candle accessories which are already on sale back home and (2) I really didn’t feel helped by the staff. I was trying to keep in mind the weight of my purchases in my luggage.
Candles are not lightweight items.
I did narrow down what I really wanted (several candle accessories) and left somewhat satisfied. Happy to purchase Diptyque in the OG location!
Absolutely beautiful and original Diptyque store. Staff was absolutely helpful and knowledgeable, caring and welcoming. Store is truly unique. It looks like antique shop with scents out of this world. If you are huge fan of this brand, like I am, this place is a must visit.
Great place, probably the best candles I've ever experienced. I bought "Baies" (Berries), and everyone loves it. Wish I discovered them sooner. I lit it in my large living room, and the entire room was scented in a wonderful perfume. And best of all, after a few hours, there was only a small depression in the candle, almost no wax was gone. Looks like it will last me a year or more.
Seriously the best candle I've ever owned.

Good service, bought some hand cream, shower gels at this boutique, the very first of the brand. The French lady who helped me were kind and patient and they dress very classic with good taste. I hope the orange box (h) could learn something from diptyque, at least the customer service :(
